Directions

From the Podelwitz water castle, the route goes up to Collmen, a historic village ensemble with a wide view as far as Rochlitz. On the Muldental hiking trail, it then descends again to the Mulde confluence – here the Zwickauer and Freiberger Mulde flow together, a place full of peace and water experience. Along the Zwickauer Mulde, the path leads further over a rest area with the so-called hydraulic ram to the Colditz Forest, a shady and mushroom-rich woodland area. After the idyllic Kohlbach valley, you cross the Zwickauer Mulde a second time and reach the town of Colditz with its Renaissance castle, museum, and the "Schlosswächter" restaurant in front of the gates of Colditz Castle. Then the path leads through the Tiergarten, a natural park area, back up to Zschadrass, a historic clinic and psychiatric area from the Gründerzeit with magnificent clinic buildings, church and water tower, and the unique Dental Museum. From there you can already see the village of Collmen again and return the same way to Podelwitz, where an excursion inn on the Freiberger Mulde awaits you for a final stop.
