The hiking trail initially leads downhill to the Seffersbach flowing through the valley, which empties into the Saar in Merzig. Soon, wonderful views open up over pastures and old scattered orchards, and one gets the impression of walking through a tunnel as the path runs under hedges of elder bushes and hazelnut shrubs.
At the edge of the trail stand two old boundary stones. Shortly thereafter, the path narrows, passing a leafy tunnel for the second time before the hedges open to reveal a wonderful view of the meadow slopes.
The babbling Bornwiesbach seems to find its way in countless loops. Behind Britten, it becomes wild and romantic. In the nearby forest, one climbs along a crystal-clear stream. Only the loud splashing of the water can be heard.
At Schörnertskopf, the highest point of the hike, two sensory benches invite you to enjoy the dreamlike view over the forested, gentle hills. When descending, if the afternoon sun shines through the dense foliage, it enchants an impressive Buntsandstein (colored sandstone) wall with stunning plays of shadow. Then the trail leaves the forest and an idyllic meadow valley opens. The trail continues immediately at the forest edge over a soft carpet of meadow downhill towards Hausbach.
The Jacobs farm offers a milk bar and a vending machine with farm-fresh products.
The Waldsaumweg was rated with 72 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.
