Dream route Berus European View

The landmark of the municipality of Überherrn, the monument "FOR THE GREAT EUROPEANS" (short: Europe Monument) in Berus, is the start and end point. It is considered a symbol of German-French, German-Italian, and European friendship and offers a wonderful view towards Lorraine right at the beginning.

The dream route leads through the Berus Forest and along orchards with wide views to the historic border stones on the German-French border. Upon arrival at the Lorraine Cross, there are opportunities to rest. The Lorraine Cross was consecrated in 2010 as a sign of resistance and today calls for dialogue and further strengthening of friendly relations between peoples.

The route goes through the nature reserve "Berus Limestone Quarry", where limestone was quarried at the beginning of the last century. On a clearing, the limestone cart recalls the open-pit mining, which was closed in 1961. With a view of the impressive building of the broadcasting hall "Europe 1", the path leads back to the starting point.
