A tour around Görlitz's local mountain, the Landeskrone. The route includes a fitness trail (sporty) and an educational bee trail (informative).

Walk around Görlitz's local mountain, the Landeskrone, and discover the fitness trail and the bee nature trail. The trail takes you through the forest and along the fields. You have a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The summit of the Landeskrone (420 meters high) is on the route, with a wonderful panoramic view from the small observation tower.

The Landeskrone is of volcanic origin and was formed around 34 million years ago in the Tertiary period. The first traces of settlement date back to the Bronze Age. The legendary mountain has a rich history and the area has been protected since 1953 due to its special geological formation. The approx. 170 steps of Lindenallee take you halfway up the basalt cone. The road leads up a comfortable incline to the mountain saddle. There are explanatory boards on the Landeskrone nature trail about the flora and fauna at exposed points. Other hiking trails are well signposted.

Directions

You start at the terminus of tram line 2 and follow the access road to the Landeskrone. The Pfaffendorfer Weg leads you in a south-westerly direction at the foot of the mountain past the ski meadow to a crossroads, where you keep right and continue along the foot of the mountain.
After about 250 meters you will reach the fitness trail and the educational bee trail. Both run along the old Kirchsteig path. There are several stations where you can exercise and many information boards on the subject of bees.
At the end of the Kirchsteig, you will arrive in the Schlauroth district. Exhausted hikers can take the regional bus route 146 back to Görlitz bus station from here. Otherwise, continue through the village, where you turn right into Schlaurother Straße in the direction of Landeskrone. There are also signs for the bee nature trail in the village.
We leave Schlaurother Straße to the left into the settlement and follow the sandy path. This leads to an asphalted footpath in the direction of Caroluskrankenhaus. Now continue straight ahead, where you have another wonderful view of the Landeskrone, and arrive at the Landskronsiedlung where there is a bus stop on Nelkenweg. Take the A bus back to the city.
