Experience the fascinating rocky landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains from its most picturesque side on this traditional hiking trail. Directions & Parking facilities

Saxon Switzerland is directly connected to the Saxon state capital of Dresden via the A17 highway, the B172 federal highway and the Deutsche Bahn rail network (EC Hamburg - Dresden - Prague line). From Dresden - the airport is also integrated here - suburban trains and buses run at short, regular intervals to the region. Towns close to the Elbe can also be reached by the Saxon steamboat service. Although the journey up the Elbe takes a little longer, it offers an incomparable enjoyment of the landscape. In the region, the network of bus lines and S-Bahn makes it easy to get to the starting point of the hikes. Two bridges (Bad Schandau, Pirna) and passenger ferries (Schmilka, Bad Schandau, Königstein, Kurort Rathen, Stadt Wehlen and Pirna) cross the Elbe.

Long-stay parking is available for guests who wish to change their accommodation in stages.

You can get to the starting and finishing point in Pirna by train or bus.
