Do you like cycling and camping? Are you and your family longing for lots of nature and exciting experiences?

Then the Neisseland Adventure Route is just right for you.

This circular route from campsite to campsite is ideal for families who like being in nature and enjoy new experiences. Several nature reserves as well as the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Heide- und Teichlandschaft are part of this route. With the Bärwalder See and the Quitzdorf reservoir, you cycle past two beautiful lakes with many water sport opportunities. A canoe trip on the Neisse is also recommended. Families should plan a detour to the Secret World of Turisede (Kulturinsel Einsiedel) in Zentendorf. Here, young and old alike come to their own. Historically significant places such as the Erlichthof settlement in Rietschen and the Konrad-Wachsmann-Haus in Niesky also await to be discovered.

The Neisseland Adventure Route always leads you over well-developed, flat cycle paths or little-used side roads. Families with younger children can also manage this route as there are no major inclines.

Directions

Day 1

Rietschen – Rothenburg/O.L. - 28 km

You arrive individually in Rietschen. Start from the Erlichthof Rietschen and follow the Wolfsradweg. You will pass the western settlement "Forest Village Ranch" in Walddorf – with some luck, you can observe bison here. Then the route takes you through the Niederspreer Teiche nature reserve before you reach Steinbach on the Neisse and cycle along the Oder-Neisse Cycle Path to Rothenburg/O.L. Here you can exchange your bike for an inflatable boat and take a Neisse tour. Or "go hunting" with bows and arrows on the archery course.

Day 2

Rothenburg/O.L. – Thräna - 38 km

Before leaving Rothenburg/O.L., your route passes the North Sea-Baltic Sea watershed in Geheege. A stop at the historic fortifications in Horka is worthwhile. Several wooden house settlements as well as the most famous wooden house in the town, the Konrad Wachsmann House, give the town of Niesky its character. Here, wooden houses were produced for the first time in prefabricated construction. Your route leads further past the Quitzdorf reservoir before arriving at the Thräna leisure and camping park. A game of fun golf and a walk at the wildlife enclosure round off the day.

Day 3

Thräna – Bärwalder See - 32 km

This stage is characterized by small but very idyllic villages. A stop at the historic village churches in Förstgen or Klitten is worthwhile. At the Tauernwiesenteich, you should take time to observe nature. With some luck, you might see a rare sea eagle. From here it is not far to the Bärwalder See, where you can spend the evening relaxing.

Day 4

Bärwalder See – Rietschen – 26 km

Enjoy your time at the Bärwalder See, go swimming or walk in Boxberg/O.L. to the landscape art object "Ear". From there you get a great view over the lake and the region. Then you cycle on the Wolfsradweg past the still active open-cast mine in Reichwalde, the Hammerstädter Teiche, back to the Erlichthof Rietschen. Before starting your return journey, be sure to take a look around the Schrotholz house settlement.
