Directions
1st Stage
Erlichthof – Rothenburg                                                                                             42 km
You start at the Erlichthof settlement in Rietschen. The Erlichthof is a lively museum village with half-timbered houses, which lies directly on the Wolfsradweg bike path. On this bike path, you will pass the Forest Village Ranch in Daubitz/Walddorf, the Western village is the backdrop for the country festival held annually for over 25 years.
On the way along the ponds in the Niederspree nature reserve, you have a great chance to admire sea eagles in flight.
In Steinbach, you meet the Oder-Neiße bike path, which you follow to Lodenau. Upon arrival, turn right and ride on quiet roads via Hähnichen to Trebus.
Between idyllic fish ponds, the route continues via Uhsmannsdorf to Rothenburg.
In Rothenburg, you have the opportunity to take a small boat trip or try archery on the 3D bow course of Neiße-Tours.
You stay overnight in Rothenburg at Pension Cubana
2nd Stage
Rothenburg – Görlitz                                                                                            28 km
You ride along the Neiße bike path from Rothenburg to Görlitz.
This stage is deliberately planned short, giving you the chance to get to know the many sights of the town of Görlitz more closely.
You ride on the Oder-Neiße bike path in the direction of Görlitz; after 6 km you reach the Secret World of Turisede (formerly Culture Island Einsiedel). A small detour to the Neiße is worthwhile, where there is a café on a pontoon bridge over the river worth visiting.
After about 27 km, you reach the town of Görlitz; take the time to enjoy the beauty of this historic town on the Via Regia.
3rd Stage
Görlitz – Jauernick-Buschbach                                                                            45 km
Today, you first ride south on the Oder-Neiße bike path to the outskirts of Görlitz. Upon arrival, turn right to Berzdorfer Lake, a flooded former brown coal open pit mine that was filled between 2002 and early 2013.
Only a few minutes from the magnificent buildings of the historic old town, Berzdorfer Lake opens up a real nature paradise: 960 hectares of sparkling water surface, sandy beaches, and the lush green 420 m high Landeskrone, Görlitz's local mountain.
You have a wonderful view to the Giant Mountains if you take a short detour to the Landeskrone observation tower.
Continue on the Oder-Neiße bike path to Ostritz, where you have the opportunity for a short detour to Marienthal Monastery.
Return to Ostritz on quiet roads towards Dittersbach. After a considerable climb, you will be rewarded with a ride through beautiful and peaceful Upper Lusatian villages. From Altbernsdorf, you ride on the "Sächsische Städteroute" bike path and bike path No. 15 of the Görlitz district, "Around Reichenbach", to Jauernick-Buschbach. Lovingly maintained traditional half-timbered houses accompany your ride.
At the end of the day's ride, there is a slight ascent. With a beautiful view from the hill in Jauernick-Buschbach, which can reach as far as the Giant Mountains in good visibility, your stage ends today.
You stay overnight in Jauernick-Buschbach

Jauernick-Buschbach – Niesky                                                                                35 km
Today, you first follow the "Sächsische Städteroute" bike path from your accommodation in Jauernick-Buschbach to Friedersdorf. At the intersection, turn right and continue along the village street to Markersdorf. Via "Am Mühlweg" and "Kirchstraße" streets you reach the Markersdorf Village Museum.
After a short break there, you cross the federal road and cycle on the roadside bike path to the Gerichtskretscham. Upon arrival, turn left again and ride on "Mittelstraße" to "Girbigsdorfer Straße". On "Girbigsdorfer Straße," you ride several kilometers to Ebersbach. In Ebersbach, you join the "Kreisbahnradweg" bike path and follow it towards Königshain.
This former railway line, now converted into a bike path, steadily climbs gently uphill.
In Königshain, you should take a short break at the nearby Baroque castle, close to the bike path.
About 1 km before the bike path ends, you leave it by turning right and must cross a small mountain range, the Königshainer Berge, on a quiet road.
Arriving in the center of Thiemendorf, you join the Frosch bike path, which you follow to Niesky.
Founded in 1742 as a colony of the Moravian Church (Herrnhuter Brüdergemeinde), Niesky is one of the youngest town foundations in Görlitz district but quickly developed into a regionally important place. Niesky is considered the cradle of industrial timber house construction in Germany, as evidenced by about 80 lovingly maintained historic wooden houses scattered around the town. In the museum at Zinzendorfplatz in the town, you can learn more about these historic wooden houses, and you also have the opportunity to relax at the town's forest swimming pool.
Today you stay overnight in Niesky
5th Stage

Niesky - Rietschen                                                                                              51 km
You leave Niesky on the "Neißelandtour" bike path heading west and ride past the Quitzdorf reservoir lake to Sproitz. From there, you continue on quiet roads via Horscha to Mücka.
In Mücka, you meet the "Seeadlerrundweg" (Sea Eagle round route), a beautiful bike path that passes through extensive pond areas and leads you directly to Bärwalder Lake.
Bärwalder Lake is the largest lake in Saxony with an area of 13 km² and the third largest lake in the Lusatian Lake District. A 22 km long circular route runs around the lake. You cycle a few kilometers on this circular route towards Boxberg. Upon arrival, you meet the Wolfsradweg, which takes you directly to Rietschen and the Erlichthof, the starting point of our route.
At the Erlichthof, overnight accommodations are also available on request, to extend your stay a bit longer.
