Neisseland family explorer route

1st stage

Rietschen – Rothenburg                                                          24 km

You start at the Erlichthof settlement in Rietschen. The Erlichthof is a living museum village with timber-framed houses, which lies directly on the Wolfsradweg cycle route. You cycle on this route towards Steinbach, passing the Forest Village Ranch in Daubitz/Walddorf. The western village is the setting for the annual country festival held for over 25 years.

Along the ponds in the Niederspree nature reserve you have a good chance to admire sea eagles in flight.

At the small settlement called Hirsch, turn right and cycle on the Froschradweg and lightly trafficked roads to Rothenburg.

North of Rothenburg there is an aviation museum to visit, or you can take part in activities offered by Neiße-Tours. At Neiße-Tours you can choose between a small inflatable boat trip on the Neiße or archery in a 3D archery course.

2nd stage

Rothenburg – Niesky                                                                30 km

After a hearty breakfast, you cycle on the Neiße cycle path to the Kulturinsel in Zentendorf. The Secret World of Turisede (formerly Kulturinsel Einsiedel) is an adventure park that you should definitely visit briefly.

You continue on the Neiße cycle path. You leave it at Deschka and cycle on very lightly trafficked side roads to Biehain. There you should take a break by the idyllic forest lake, a bathing lake, before continuing on the Froschradweg cycle path to Niesky.

On the way to Niesky there is also a historic fortified church in Horka that you can visit.

The small town of Niesky was founded in 1742 by Bohemian religious refugees and is considered the cradle of industrial timber construction. More than one hundred historic wooden houses are still scattered throughout the town today.

In Niesky, the Museum at Zinzendorfplatz or the forest swimming pool invite you to visit.

3rd stage

Niesky – Rietschen                                                                    24 km

You leave Niesky heading west on the Neißenland cycle path and follow it to Sproitz. On the left, you can see the Quitzdorfer reservoir; if you want to make a small detour here – a ride over the dam is well worthwhile.

The ride continues on quiet side roads via Horscha to Petershain. There the route leads along the local fish farming ponds. In Kosel a historic village church awaits you; from there it is not far to Rietschen, the destination of the trip.

At Erlichthof, overnight accommodations are available on request to extend your stay a little longer.
