The Orla Discoverer is a hiking trail in the municipality of Wachau, which runs along the Orla, a small stream, from the Seifersdorf Valley to the Fünfhufenteich.

The hiking trail begins at the Grundmühle in the Seifersdorf Valley and initially leads to Wachau. Along the way, you pass the "Wandersmann," a carved wooden figure and popular photo motif. Then the path goes through the beautifully newly designed castle park. The Baroque castle itself can only be viewed from the outside. Along the Saugraben, the path leads north to the district of Lomnitz until it finally ends at the Fünfhufenteich. From here, it is possible to hike back to Wachau along the "Lausitzer Schlange" hiking trail.

Directions

Right at the Grundmühle (Seifersdorf Valley) the hiking trail begins towards Wachau. You ascend out of the valley and first hike through extensive fields and meadows. After crossing the state road S 177, you suddenly see an impressive and striking signpost location, the so-called "Wandersmann." The carved figure is truly a feast for the eyes of every hiker. The path continues north, and soon you reach the town of Wachau with its well-known castle and the associated castle park. In the park, the Three Castles Trail (marked with a red dot) crosses, connecting the 3 castles of Seifersdorf, Wachau, and Radeberg. The Orla Discoverer hiking trail now winds further through the village, past two village ponds where fish farming is carried out. The trail then leaves the town and follows the so-called Saugraben, a small tributary of the Orla, to the road leading to Lomnitz. Here, you walk about 100 m on the road before the trail sharply turns left. The village Lomnitz is already visible here. The hiking trail continues on the Hainweg to the destination, the Fünfhufenteich.
