The Roßweiner mining educational trail takes you on routes 1 & 2 into the Roßweiner mining history.

The Roßweiner mining educational trail has two routes. Based on 16 different information boards, the Roßweiner mining history and its associated geological peculiarities are clearly explained. The routes offer beautiful views of the Mulde valley/Wolfstal. On hot summer days, the outdoor pool "Wolfstal" provides a welcome refreshment. The Gersdorf mining landscape is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Directions

At the beginning of the path, go up the Burggraben to information board 3, then turn left towards Wunderburg, down over the garage yard towards Wunderburg street. Wehrstraße leads out of the town towards Nossen into the Wolfstal. The Roßweiner industrial history is passed, including the former VEB youth fashion and the formerly extensive area of the VEB Armaturenwerk Roßwein. Today it is Meibes Systemtechnik GmbH.

Immediately at the railway viaduct, information board no. 6 can be found. From there, go back about 150 m to the start of the so-called 100 or 126 steps.

The forest is left towards the camellia house and outdoor pool, offering beautiful views into the Mulde valley / Wolfstal. The signposted branch towards the camellia house is passed. Here, the bloom of many camellias can be admired every year from January to April.

After a short time, the Wolfstal forest pool is reached, which provides cooling on warm summer days. To the left around the pool, information boards 12, 11, 10, 9, and 7 are passed on the way down into the Wolfsal. Crossing the wooden bridge simultaneously marks entering the UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterwards, the old ore path is followed uphill to Gersdorf. On the village street, you pass the hat house, bakehouse, old mountain smithy, the natural monument of an old sweet chestnut, and the Gersdorf castle back towards Roßwein. Before the Gersdorf street turns right to Roßwein, the path sharply turns left uphill to Hartenberg city forest.  Past the Rüder monument and forest kindergarten appears the Hartenberg lodge. Finally, the path leads down Hartenberg street into the valley, again past the Bussibär daycare center and right down to the railway crossing. Over the "Rößer im Schilf" playground and the red bridge, the starting point of the hike is reached.
