The Schlossblick hiking route is a circular route that leads, among other things, to a viewpoint with a great view of the Baroque Rammenau Castle.

The approximately 4.4 km long circular route starts at the parking lot of the Baroque Rammenau Castle and first leads to a viewpoint with a great view of Rammenau Castle. On the northern ridge trail, there is another viewpoint facing north, offering a good view of Upper Lusatia. The path continues along Waldscheibenteich and over the cherry avenue in Oberrammenau back to the starting point. Those who want to admire the castle not only from a distance should definitely visit one of the most beautiful rural Baroque complexes in Saxony afterwards.

Due to its length and path conditions, the route is very suitable for family outings, including with small children.

Directions

The starting point is the parking lot at Rammenau Castle. Initially, the path runs along a little-used road towards Waldscheibe. At the edge of the town, a path leads up a small hill to the viewpoint "Schlossblick". Here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the entire ensemble of the Baroque castle. A shelter invites you to linger. Continuing north, the path goes to the northern ridge trail (marked with a red dot), which is one of the oldest and certainly one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Upper Lusatia. Follow this trail to Waldscheibenteich and then over the cherry avenue back to Rammenau. After crossing the road, the path passes the wash pond and returns to the parking lot.

Getting there

You can reach Rammenau via the A4, Burkau junction. Then follow the signs towards Rammenau and leave the roundabout towards the town center. In the town, turn into Fichte Street at the municipal administration/before the old smithy, which leads directly to the castle.

From the B6 (coming from Bautzen/Bischofswerda or Dresden), follow the signs towards Rammenau. Here, too, leave the roundabout towards Rammenau town center and turn into Fichte Street at the municipal administration/before the old smithy, which leads directly to the castle.

Parking

Paid parking spaces are available in sufficient numbers at the parking lot of the Baroque Rammenau Castle.

Public transportation

The town center of Rammenau is accessible by bus. Information about connections can be found at https://www.vvo-online.de/de/fahrplan/fahrplanauskunft?destinationid=33007131. From the town center, it is a 10-minute walk to the start of the route at Baroque Rammenau Castle.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

The cherry avenue is especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season. A detour to the Rammenau wood trail and the show bee stand in Oberrammenau is recommended with children.
