The historic Zeetz church stands on the edge of a beautiful round village. The Romanesque fieldstone and brick building dates back to the 12th century and is connected to the neighboring village of Püggen via a romantic church path. The historic path is lined with willows and can only be used on foot or by bike. There are no cars here.
From the outside, the church with its massive brick tower makes a rather rustic impression. A room that can only be reached from the inside, which was presumably intended to serve as a refuge for the population in times of need, also speaks to the fortified character of the church.
The main room of the Zeetz church, on the other hand, is lavishly painted in places and features a late Gothic carved altar. In addition, one of Wendland's four baptismal angels hovers beneath the wooden ceiling, which is painted with plant ornaments in the Renaissance style.
